Ashfield Fair Share
The Fair Share Trust programme is part of the Fair Share Initiative announced by the Secretary of State for Culture Media and Sport in 2001. The Fair Share Trust programme is a 10 year programme launched in June 2002 to… "Ensure that a larger share of total Lottery funding is received in the Fair Share areas and that a sustainable impact is made on the lives of disadvantaged people in these areas."
The Fair Share Trust is administered by the Community Foundation Network, www.communityfoundations.org.uk which in consultation with the Big Lottery Fund, has developed a strategic grants programme that is delivered by Local Agents targeting areas throughout the UK that suffer considerable disadvantage and have previously received less than their fair share of National Lottery funding.
The Nottinghamshire Community Foundation is the Local Agent for the Ashfield Fair Share Trust area (made up of the Carsic, Leamington & New Cross areas) and has established a local panel that agreed the following priorities and key tasks for the final phase 2010-2013.
To support a programme of social capital, community assets and innovative interventions relating to young people, social enterprise, learning and skills, community pride and debt management.
The objectives are to develop and support a network of community activity within the FST area and stimulate a sustainable long-term infrastructure of support for community organisations within the mainstream programmes of the major statutory bodies.
Progress has already been made on each of the tasks and for more details and information please contact John Norrington john@nottscf.org.uk or the Community Champion Sarah Thorpe sarah@nottscf.org.uk
Any enquiries regarding the programme locally or nationally should be referred to John Norrington and in the case of a complaint; details of the process for dealing with these can be obtained as required.
